Even resistant superbugs, such as MRSA and vancomycin-resistant enterococci, died when exposed to this new compound, lugdunin.

Antimicrobial resistance is a major global threat, with Europe facing "Antimicrobial Armageddon" by 2025. Leading scientists predict a million deaths from untreatable infections if more new antibiotics aren't found.

So academics hunting for new drugs in unusual places such as human "snot" are on the right track. Here are ten more surprising places scientists are looking for antibiotics, from ants and cow stomachs to medieval libraries and snake blood.

1. Ants

The microbes living in and on tropical ants are studied for antibacterial and antifungal drugs by scientists across the world. Matt Hutchings from the University of East Anglia leads a major British study, prospecting bioactive compounds from fungus-farming attine and arboreal ants.

Attine (leaf cutter) ants from the Americas rely on antibiotics produced by actinomycete bacteria carried on their cuticles to protect their fungal garden from infestations. Tree-living, sap-drinking African slender ants and American Allomerus ants are thought to protect their host trees by cultivating mostly Gram-negative bacteria. These produce antibiotics and other compounds, which affect plant pathogens and deter herbivores from destroying their host plants. Hutchings said:

It's very exciting that ants not only evolved agriculture before humans but also combination therapy with natural antibiotics. Humans are just starting to realise that this is one way to slow down the rise of drug resistant bacteria – the so called superbugs.

2. Crocodile blood

Crocodiles not only have the strongest bite, their immune system is also very potent. It allows them to recover quickly from injuries that would kill other animals. Scientists from Cardiff Metropolitan University gave an update at a recent international symposium on the blood of Thai crocodiles as an antibacterial source. Crocodile blood haemoglobin could kill highly-resistant superbugs, such asKlebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. These can cause urinary tract infections and pneumonia in already sick patients or those with cystic fibrosis.

Test us … if you dare. Shutterstock

3. Cow stomachs

If you thought that cows just turn grass into milk, beef and manure, then think again. The stomachs of the cow harbour billions of microbes that help digest the grass, while competing with each other for their own food. Sharon Huws' team from Aberystwyth University has identified over 100 novel antimicrobial candidates from rumenmicroorganisms. The most promising compounds from pre-clinical tests are currently undergoing further trials.

4. Dirt, deserts and 10 Downing Street

Around two-thirds of currently prescribed antibiotics come from soil bacteria. Swansea University Medical School is leading studies digging for antibiotics directly from dirt and very dry habitats. I reported on a dirt studyand we are now working with industry to engineer a commercially viable route to novel antibiotics from dirt.

Paul Dyson's team at Swansea is isolating microbes from extreme environments such as the Gobi and Arabian deserts and high-altitude Tibetan soils that hardly sustain life. These microbes are now producing antibiotic leads in the laboratory.

Source of a cure? Shutterstock

And anyone can help. The garden of 10 Downing Street was dug up recently as part of a project to crowdsource samples for the Small World Initiative. SWI's Nicole Broderick said of the progress made by thousands of students across the globe: "The grand goal is to find new antibiotics, while getting young people interested in science."

5. Frog skin and foam

Frogs have been known to make deadly compounds for centuries – the skin of poison dart frogs contains alkaloid toxins that can kill humans quickly. Recently, many other species of frogs have been tested for antimicrobialsand antibiotic-delivery systems. The tiny Caribbean Tungaran frog produces a foamwith its hindlegs that protects its eggs from infection and predation. This foam slowly releases antimicrobials, which scientists at the University of Strathclyde are now testing as novel drug delivery systems for wound care. Paul Hoskisson said: "I'd say we are about half way there to making a stable foam. Once we do that, we would then need to test it in patients, but that will take a few years yet."

6. Honey

Honey is not only spread on toast, it's been used to treat patients' wounds for centuries. Honey made from the nectar of the Mānuka tree is particularly potent for wound infections. Microbiologists from Cardiff Metropolitan University have discovered that combinations of Mānuka honey and regular antibiotics can make MRSA more sensitive. Rose Cooper, professor of microbiology, said:

This indicates that existing antibiotics may be more effective against drug-resistant infections if used in combination with Mānuka honey.

7. Maggots and cockroaches

Other creepy crawlies are also a proven success. Maggot secretions, cockroach brains, and the humid brood cells of beewolf wasps all contain antimicrobials. Patients suffering from chronic open wounds, or resistant superbug infections, are often reluctant to undergo maggot therapy, but Yamni Nigam from Swansea University has launched the innovative #loveamaggot campaign. Nigam claims that "maggot therapy is a quick and highly effective way to treat infected and festering wounds. Limbs, and even lives, of chronically ill patients have been saved".

8. Medieval libraries

The interdisciplinary AncientBiotics consortium is hunting for recipes to treat infections in ancient books. One of the recipes found in Bald's Leechbook, an Anglo-Saxon manuscript held in the British Library, proved particularly powerful against superbugs. Consortium founding member Freya Harrison said the team thought the eye salve might show a "small amount of antibiotic activity … But we were absolutely blown away by just how effective the combination of ingredients was".

Old books could contain new drugs. Shutterstock

9. Sharks

The immune system of sharks is naturally powerful to protect them against bacterial and viral infections. This led investigators from the Georgetown University Medical Center to search for shark compounds with therapeutical potential. They discovered that the steroid compound squalamine from dogfish sharks is effective against human pathogenic bacteria – for example Pseudomonas aeruginosa – and human viruses such as dengue and hepatitis.

10. Snakes

Scientists from the Aga Khan University in Pakistan tested whether animals eating germ-infested rodents harboured powerful antimicrobials. In fact, right now I find it difficult to remember one (though I readily admit that my knowledge of rap is pretty basic at best) except you wanna include the gospel genre of which I can name a few offhand. So when i listened to "Mujo" for the first time, I felt wowed.

Smeezy promised a very danceable song and with its slow highlife cum late 90s flow, "Mujo" delivers excellently on that promise. From the first second to the last, the beat, the hook and the delivery style is completely dance oriented. Not the shoki, skelewu or even skelemba high pitched, fast paced kind of dance but the slow, low-key, rhythmical, head bobbing, feet tapping, body swaying style that dominated the 80s to 90s music scenes. Reminding you of the Ebenezer Obey, Orlando Owoh, Fela Kuti hit beats and yet still managing to stay in touch with the modern ways. Smeezy really outdid himself on this. Summarily I think it's best described as a "Classical dance rap song".

Having said all this however, after listening to the song severally I noticed two things which the excellent hook and beat kept me from discovering at first. And which I feel if corrected would have made the song far better.

1. I believe( I may be wrong) that the song would have been better if a singer with higher pitch than Trillz had sang the hook or at least backed it up (please note I do not know him personally and neither do I have any beef against him plus I think he has a very good voice) perhaps even a female singer. Smeezy has a low pitch voice and so does Trillz. I strongly believe a low-high pitch combo would have resulted in an even better result.

2. Smeezy's rap lyrics in "Mujo" does not contain the lyrical depth that I've come to like and respect him for. But this is completely understandable cos "Mujo" isn't a rap single (or is it).

Overall tho, "Mujo" is an excellent song but with a number of things to improve.
My overall rating? 7/10.

CC: Oluwatobi Adesanmi
@tobexi
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-16223969622440585342016-06-03T15:55:00.001-07:002016-06-03T15:55:48.539-07:00[MUSIC] Smeezy (@Iam_smeezy) ft Trillz - Mujo

Smeezy is undoubtedly one of the finest young artist around. The drug has protective effects against dengue infection in monkeys and inhibits replication of the virus in infected Vero cells. According to researchers in Brazil, chloroquine appears to also protect against Zika virus infection in various cell types in vitro. The team published its results last week (May 2) in a bioRxiv preprint.

Amilcar Tanuri at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and colleagues tested the effects of chloroquine in different Zika virus–infected cell types, observing each culture for five days. Flow cytometry and immunofluorescence staining revealed that chloroquine at 25 and 50 μM reduced the number of Zika-infected Vero cells by 65 percent and 95 percent, respectively. When tested in human brain microvascular endothelial cells (hBMEC), which are often used to model the blood-brain barrier, chloroquine protected 80 percent of the cells examined from Zika-induced death, the researchers reported.

"Chloroquine . . . is not an antiviral drug as it acts on the cell and not on the virus," Tanuri told The Scientist.

Zika is known to target neurospheres and brain organoids; viral infection is associated withmicrocephaly and other abnormalities of the central nervous system in mice and humans. In the present study, Tanuri's team found that chloroquine treatment of Zika-infected mouse neurospheres enabled these cells to differentiate as usual, suggesting that the drug can rescue the neurite extension phenotype.

Although chloroquine-mediated inhibition of viral infection can occur in both early and late stages of the viral replication cycle, the team observed that adding chloroquine at 30 minutes to 12 hours after infection reduced release of Zika virus (nine to 20 times compared with untreated cells). The drug did not reduce viral production when administered 24 hours after infection. This indicated that chloroquine is most effective in the early phase of Zika infection, when the virus enters the cell, the researchers noted.

David O'Connor, a professor of pathology and laboratory medicine at the University of Wisconsin–Madison who was not involved with the study, noted that regulatory agenices have already deemed chloroquine safe for use in pregnant women. "There will be a lot of enthusiasm for evaluating different interventions for use in pregnancy, but determining their safety and effectiveness will be time-consuming and could expose pregnant women to risk," he wrote in an email. "If chloroquine is even partially effective at reducing the risk or severity of Zika virus infection during pregnancy, its proven safety could make it extremely valuable."

Dosing remains a hurdle, however. The half maximal effective concentration of chloroquine that protected 50 percent of cells from Zika-induced death was between 9.82 and 14.2 μM, depending on the cell type, the Federal University team showed. (Chloroquine is sometimes administered in high concentrations—250 and 500 mg—to pregnant women who have lupus or rheumatoid arthritis.)

"At this point we are not suggesting to use chloroquine against Zika virus infection in pregnant women as the dose required to reach the same 14.2 uM of chloroquine, here used to protect hBEMEC, could be too high. Only a clinical trial will tell what is the right dose and real benefit of chloroquine," Tanuri said, adding that he hopes chloroquine derivatives might show similar—or enhanced—effects against Zika virus infection.

It is not yet known to what extent reduction of the virus in cells might impact the development of microcephaly. Paolo Zanotto of the University of São Paulo, who works on dengue and zika but was not involved in the study, wrote in a Facebook message that preclinical studies using animal models of Zika virus infection will be required to test the effects of chloroquine in vivo.

"Considering that the antiviral drugs so far tested against Zika infection are all toxic for the fetus, the finding that chloroquine has an effect against Zika infection is very promising," said Zanotto.

R. The results have implications for designing antibiotic protocols to avoid the spread of antibacterial resistance.

"The entire field knows there's a huge problem of overusing antibiotics," said Lingchong You, the Paul Ruffin Scarborough Associate Professor of Engineering at Duke University and lead author on the paper. "It is incredibly tempting to assume that antibiotics are promoting the spread of resistance by increasing the rate at which bacteria share resistant genes with each other, but our research shows they often aren't."

It's long been known that bacteria can swap DNA through a process called conjugation, which allows helpful genes to spread quickly between individuals and even between species.

Because the number of resistant bacteria rises when antibiotics fail to kill them, researchers assumed that the drugs increased the amount of genetic swapping taking place. But You thought maybe the drugs were killing off the two "parent" lineages and allowing a newly resistant strain to thrive instead.

"Previous studies haven't been able to tease these two ideas apart, but our work decoupled them," said Allison Lopatkin, a doctoral student in You's laboratory and the lead author of the study. "We showed at the single-cell level that the exchange of resistant genes is not influenced by antibiotics at all, which is in contrast to the literature."

In her experiments, Lopatkin put bacterial cells under a sort of suspended animation where they could neither die nor reproduce but they could still swap genes. With the birth and death rates no longer a variable, the researchers could see how the rate of gene exchanges responded to antibiotics.

They tested nine clinical pathogens commonly associated with the rapid spread of resistance and exposed them to ten common drugs representing each major class of antibiotics. The rates of gene exchange in each test remained flat and, in a few cases, actually decreased slightly as the concentration of antibiotics grew.

"It would seem that when antibiotics are applied, the DNA swapping has already occurred and continues to do so," You said. "Depending on their doses, the drugs can let the newly resistant bacteria emerge as the winners. When this occurs, the new strain is much more prevalent than before if tests are run after some growth of the new strain."

You points out that there are a few proven examples of antibiotics directly inducing the expression of the genes responsible for donating resistance, but they are very specific. For example, the antibiotic tetracycline induces the expression of genes that only transfer tetracycline resistance.

The new study shows that despite these outliers, antibiotics don't promote resistance spread by inducing global changes at the cellular level. The researchers hope further research will soon help clinicians design better antibacterial protocols.

"This has direct implications in terms of how we design doses and protocols," said You. "Some antibacterial combinations can drastically promote the overall transfer dynamics. Other combinations, on the other hand, can suppress the pathogens equally well without promoting genetic transfers. These are the issues we're hoping to address in follow-up research. We're trying to learn how to design the antibiotic treatment protocols in such a way that they will be effective but won't promote the spread of antibiotic resistance."

Story Source:

The above post is reprinted from materials provided by Duke University. Note: Materials may be edited for content and length.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-37106944941666547032016-04-01T10:03:00.001-07:002016-04-01T10:03:10.944-07:00[MUSIC] Smeezy - I'm HOT

2016 indeed promised hot jamz, but not without SMEEZY......

This young and talented Act "SMEEZY" AKA (Obama of flows) won't seize to amaze his fans, as he's always giving them something extraordinary.

The "G.O.A.T Music Group" finest and "SMEEZY is SMEEZY" crooner, hits the streets again with another ever blazing, promising, and massive tune " I'M HOT".

I'M HOT, a reversal of MI "I'm hot" a cover of "gbono feli feli instrumental", smeezy the young rapper after MI crown and jumps on the instrumental to prove he's actually better than MI Abaga

Taking his fans to another higher level, keeping it real like 100%…

Download, listen and Enjoy

http://www.datafilehost.com/d/0b42e5d8
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-15983195271510343322016-02-07T18:55:00.001-08:002016-02-07T18:55:56.317-08:00I need your help to win!!!
Hello,

Am representing #SWI Ekiti State University group (Only Nigerian Institution) in an online contest and I need your help to win the #SWImemecontest. As long as I would want to keep quiet, my training as a Microbiologist won't permit me. It is my duty, to enlighten the ignorance of anyone who share such thoughts.

The outbreak of Ebola (2015) and Lassa (2016) is not in any way related to anger or destruction plans of any spiritual force.

These outbreaks occur because the world over has literarily "forgotten" the culture of personal hygiene and our Government have failed in their responsibilities on developing blueprints that would ensure that the health of the populace is seen and attended to.

These outbreaks would have been prevented if the Government appropriately fund and empower our hospitals and epidemiological research agencies and parastatals to prepare and develop ways o prevent us against disease outbreaks.

Let's all share the blame. If the Government failed in their responsibility, these disease outbreaks could also have been prevented if we (the citizens) keep up out own part of ensuring that our environment are kept clean at all times. Government won't clean your house for you, or would they?

Rather than blaming spiritual forces, out spiritual leaders should preach personal hygiene. Even the holy books stated that "cleanliness is next to Godliness". Diseases don't thrive in clean environment, dirty environment promotes them.

Keep your environments clean, maintain a high level of personal hygiene and see if the diseases by the so called "spiritual forces" would get close to your household.

I leave you in peace.

Humble regards,
Ayodeji A. It is with this in mind that I urge you to take the war against terror far more seriously than you are doing and plead with you to stop passing the buck.

Your penchant for blaming your failings in this regard on the previous administration is simply nauseating and it does not serve you well.

You continuously contradict yourself when it comes to this matter and frankly such flip flops are unworthy of the office that you presently occupy.

We your subjects look up to you for consistency, strength, unequivocal commitment, a firm resolve and the "leadership from the front" that you promised during your presidential campaign in this war. We do not want and neither do we need doublespeak, lame excuses and buck passing.

Permit me to point out a few examples of your contradictory assertions and your buck passing in this short intervention. Initially you claimed that your predecessor in office President Goodluck Jonathan never bought any arms and that instead he squandered and stole all the money that was appropriated for the procurement of arms.

Yet when the British Minister of Defense visited you in the Presidential Villa the other day the story changed. You did a U-turn and gleefully told him and the wider world that President Jonathan bought arms with raw cash.

One wonders which story you shall come up with next and which one you will conjure up in the future. Kindly tell us what the position is: is it that Jonathan did not buy arms at all and stole all the money or is it that he used cash to buy arms? You cannot have it both ways. It is either one or the other.

Quite apart from your glaring doublespeak on this matter there was another issue which you ought to have raised with your highly esteemed and respected British guest.

You forgot to tell him that his was one of the countries that not only refused to sell weapons to us during the course of this bitter conflict but that also helped to impose and enforce the international arms embargo on our country even though we are at war.

This resulted in the unnecessary death of thousands of our people because we found it difficult to procure the weapons to protect them.

Your guest's country insisted on towing the American line and doing this to us even though we were fighting a war against a relentless, well-motivated, well-funded and well-armed fighting force that Global Terror Index has described as the "deadliest terrorist organization in the world". One is forced to ask: with friends like this who needs enemies?

Given the fact that the embargo was in place one wonders how we were supposed to procure arms unless we did so with raw cash on the black market.

The alternative was to buy none at all, to do nothing and to allow Boko Haram to take Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu and Lagos.

Perhaps that is precisely what your western friends and allies wanted but thankfully it never came to pass.

Despite the challenges and constraints President Jonathan faced, instead of losing any more ground, he rose to the occasion and retook no less than 22 local government areas and virtually pushed Boko Haram out of Nigeria. The only place that they occupied by the time the election took place was Sambisa forest.

Jonathan achieved all this with those arms that he bought with raw cash. This is apparently what you are now complaining about. Permit me to remind you that it is those same arms that Jonathan bought with raw cash that your army is still using till today.

Yet sadly since you were sworn in as President seven months ago you have lost some of those same local government areas that were earlier recovered and they are now back in the hands of the terrorists.

Despite this you keep telling the international community and the Nigerian people that we are "making progress" in the war against terror.

As a matter of fact you went as far as to say that we had "won the war" against Boko Haram and your Minister of Information, Mr. Lai Mohammed, echoed that grotesque mendacity and reiterated that sentiment by adding the words "technically won" (whatever that may mean) to the equation.

Sadly, two days later, on Christmas day, in what can only be described as an eloquent response from the terrorists, scores of innocent civilians were killed by Boko Haram in Borno state and a whole community was burnt to the ground.

Again on Sunday 27th of December Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state, came under heavy attack from the terrorists. So much for having "won the war against Boko Haram", whether "technically" or otherwise.

Instead of conceding that you had told the Nigerian people a pernicious lie, curiously the next thing that you did was to tell them that you would "persuade Boko Haram to drop their arms".

One is compelled to ask: why would you have to persuade them to drop their arms if you had already defeated them and won the war against them?

In any case this would be the first time in the history of modern warfare that a sitting President has sought to destroy and defeat a vicious and relentless terrorist organization and win the war against terror simply with the awesome and devastating weapon of persuasion.

Perhaps you should recommend that same tactic to the Americans and the rest of the international community as an effective and credible weapon to adopt in their war against ISIL, Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, Hamas and all the other jihadist groups that plague the world.

Whilst you are at it perhaps you could also persuade Boko Haram to free the Chibok girls. It is disturbing to note that despite all your campaign promises and assurances that once you are elected President the girls would be rescued or returned, nothing has been done or heard about any of them ever since you were sworn in.

Worst still the Bring Back Our Girls Group, which was essentially an appendage of your election organization, together with its distinguished leaders and conveners, appear to have gone very quiet. I guess they are busy trying to persuade Boko Haram to drop their arms too.

The truth is that it is time for you to free yourself from your monumental delusions and to get real. Sadly you appear to be detached from reality.

Instead of fighting the war against terror you are making it worse by slaughtering one thousand Shia Muslims in Zaria on December 12th, locking up their leader Sheik Ibrahim

El Zakzaky and opening yet another war front in our country.

The last thing that we need is for Hezbollah or the Iranian Republican Guard to rise to the occasion, take up the challenge, jump into the fray and decide to protect and avenge their Shia Muslim brothers and sisters in northern Nigeria.

Yet despite the reprehensible and indefensible actions of your military commanders in Zaria you have refused to show any remorse for what was undoubtedly a war crime against fellow Nigerians and you have not prosecuted the officers and military personnel that were involved in the butchery.

Instead the homes of the victims and those that share their Shia faith have been burnt to the ground in Zaria and their graves and burial sites have been dug up and desecrated.
Instead of fighting Boko Haram you are fighting and killing your own people.

Worse still you have refused to defend our country. I say this because a few days ago the Cameroonian military invaded our country, violated our territorial integrity and savagely murdered over 70 innocent Nigerians in their village before burning it down.

Your government refused to acknowledge that this event even took place, despite the media reports. You did not console or express condolences to the families of the victims or retaliate against the Cameroonians.

You did not even warn them or demand an apology or reparations from them. This is heartless and shameful. It could not have happened under Jonathan, Obasanjo, Babangida, Shagari, Abacha, Abubakar, Shonekan, Mohammed, Balewa or indeed any other former Nigerian President or Head of State.

If any of them had been in power and the Cameroonians cultivated the effrontery to do such a thing there would have been consequences.

Yet you did nothing to avenge this affront or to defend our honor. What happened to the gallant and brave General Buhari that courageously led our troops into victory in Chad in the early 1980's?

What happened to the honest and forthright man that we all admired and looked up to because of his military exploits in Chad?

What happened to the war hero that gave the Chadians a "bloody nose" for daring to attack a Nigerian village and that almost took Ndjamena, the Chadian capital?

What happened to the man that proved to the Libyans and their Chadian proxies that Nigerians knew how to fight? It appears that you have changed and that you are no longer the man that you used to be.

Instead of being honest with our people you have insisted on selling them a dummy and telling them a lie. You refuse to tell the world that our military is terribly demoralized, our soldiers are suffering heavy casualties and are not being paid their salaries regularly and, worse of all, that you have failed to procure a single bullet or weapon for them to use in the last seven months since you came to power.

Instead of deploying all the power of the state against Boko Haram you have spent all your energy and resources trying to teach the former National Security Advisor, Colonel Sambo Dasuki, and all your other perceived enemies the lesson of their lives by misrepresenting them before the world, subjecting them to state-sponsored tyranny and the most insidious form of persecution, violating their human rights and lying to the world that they stole and shared money that was meant for the purchase of arms.

You have also misled and misinformed the Nigerian people about the rules and conventions that are applied when it comes to the administration of security funds and about the fact that it is the National Assembly alone that has the right to probe the use of such funds as part of their oversight functions.

To cap it all you have claimed you did not receive any benefit from the NSA 's office whilst Jonathan was in power. This is an assertion which we all know is, at best, questionable.

You must be mindful of the fact that God hates liars and He despises those that abuse power. You must remember that the more you scorn God's counsel and mock His admonitions the more your errors will be made manifest and the more your people will suffer.

You must understand that any leader or government that is motivated by bitterness, fear, hate, vengeance and malice will eventually hit the rocks and crash like a pack of cards.

You must appreciate the fact that God is watching and that He sees and knows all.

May the Lord have mercy on you and may He forgive you for your many sins and wicked ways. God bless Nigeria.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-69248363369907157972015-12-26T08:20:00.001-08:002015-12-26T08:20:29.980-08:00@IAM_CHITUNZ -JAGABAN (IGBO VERSION)

Ycee would have prefer the remix of Jagaban with Chitunz, stepping up the Music industry with his flows and lyrics, Chitunz is here with his new hit Jagaban (Igbo version) they call him the next after Phyno. Relax and enjoy the chat:

How would you assess President Buhari's administration, particularly on the economy?

You have heard the President said he is the one that Nigerians voted for and he is responsible to them not to me or you. He is not owned by anybody. He was there between 1983 and 1985, he has experienced it, he is the only one who came since independence to be President of Nigeria and succeeded. No other one, Tafawa Balewa wanted to be a broadcaster, he became Prime Minister, Alhaji Shehu Shagari wanted to become a Senator, he became President; Olusegun Obasanjo was in prison praying to be released, at the end of the day he became president, Late Yar 'Adua wanted to retire to lecture in Ahmadu Bello University, he became President; Jonathan was taken from Bayelsa to Abuja and made Vice President and them later became Acting President and President. Buhari went into politics and wanted to be President in 2003, he failed, 2007 he failed and 2015 he succeeded. Do you think that this type of person will be rushed into doing things he don't believe will make Nigerians grow? I can assure you No. There are three steps in Buhari's scheme,

S+S=P that is the equation. S is for security, he will secure Nigeria, the other S is for stability, he will stabilise Nigeria through infrastructural development and the outcome of security and stability is Prosperity and Nigeria will prosper. At the end of the day, if Buhari doesn't perform, stone us because he is going to perform.

When people begin to appoint ministers for him, programme economic measures for him, begin to tell him what will happen in education and other ministries, you give the impression that he came to be President without preparing. I can assure you he is prepared to hold office by coming out with a book called project Nigeria and that book he has always had since 2002 when he entered politics and he is going to implement this program.

He has a contract with every Nigerian, all the ethnic groups and I have said it, the South-East will be more in his party than any other group. Why? Because he is going to develop their area more than PDP ever did. Buhari knows where he wants Nigeria to be. We are talking of four years and it has not gotten to one year yet and people are saying he is very slow. One thing people don't know is that those who are corrupt, those who did money laundering, those who diverted all sort of things, they know where the heat is. This BVN I don't know how it works but it is revealing a lot of things, if you have one bank account, the thing will reveal all the commitments you have. I don't know how it works but the government seems to be finding out where people have hidden money more than any other time in our history. I am not in that group, I am not carry out any investigation but a lot of things are coming out and a lot of things have been done.

He believes that anybody who took Nigeria's money must return it, and should be punished for taking the money and denying the people of facilities they would have had if the way the money was used for them. Look at what is happening with arms, people went and collected billions of dollars and sat down to share the money and people where dying in the North-East, those who had no arms with them ran into Cameroon, they put them under court marshal and sentenced them to death and they didn't give them arms. When they are dealing with such people, Nigerians are saying it is because they are in government. Those in government are the ones stealing the money, those in APC had no access so will you say because there was no APC among the PDP that had the opportunity to serve Nigeria that pocketed the money should not be dealt with. Buhari has said he is not against anybody but everybody must bear the consequences of their actions and when things are happening as media men find out why it is affecting your friend or colleague.

We read that the federal government have received some stolen funds from looters. Don't you think giving credibility to the anti-graft war Nigerians deserve to know those behind the funds?

Government doesn't talk, it is the media that talks, and you are given the responsibility to monitor governance on behalf of the people. Sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria and through the constitution, the government generates its power and authority. The motto of government is keep our secret, secret and the motto of the journalist is publishe and be dammed but to publish the truth. If government has been talking about people who have returned looted money, find out because you have protection. It is not the duty of the government to start publishing anything, what if what they publish other is wrong? They can be sued. The point I am making is that yes, the people have the right to know and the people have the right to be told who does the telling.

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-8532799268232660482015-12-26T08:05:00.001-08:002015-12-26T08:05:59.843-08:00Fayose Urges Nigerians To Pray For Buhari, Says Lai Mohammed Should Relocate To Borno Or Yobe

Ekiti State governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has called on Nigerians to pray specially for President Mohammadu Buhari; saying; "The President needs God to give him the necessary wisdom to be able to find solution to the country's economic and security problems."

The governor also challenged the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed to relocate to Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe and move around there without heavy military security if indeed he was sure that Boko Haram had been defeated.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose said; "only God's intervention can save Nigeria from the present economic and security problems as it is glaring that the man running the affairs of the country at the federal level does not have any answer to the problems."

He said; "Even the Holy Bible said in James 1:5 that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God and as it is, Nigerians must assist the President in asking for wisdom and understanding to tackle the country's economic and security problems before Nigeria is further plunged into more woes with the federal government's decision to borrow N2.2 Trillion, which translates to N6.066 billion per day to finance the 2016 Budget."

He described the Federal Government's announced reduction of petrol pump price from N87 to N85 per litre as a continuation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government's governance by deceit, saying; "Even secondary school students of economics know that you cannot deregulate and regulate at the same time."

The governor said; "it is only in a confused and clueless economy that government will plan to spend more when revenue has reduced by more than 50 percent." Governor Fayose, who maintained that petrol will not sell below N100 per litre in 2016, added that; "Even now that the price is N87 and subsidy is yet to be removed, Nigerians are buying at between N130 and N300 per litre. What will now happen when they remove subsidy and allow market forces to determine the price?"

The governor described claimed by the Information Minister that Boko Haram insurgents had been defeated as strange, saying; "Nigerians will only take the minister serious if he relocates to either Sambisa in Borno State or Yobe State and stay there till the end of March, next year without heavy military security."

He said; "To show their level of confusion, two days after the Minister of Information declared that Boko Haram had been defeated, President Buhari said the government would persuade Boko Haram to abandon their fight.

One then wonders how the same Boko Haram insurgents Lai Mohammed said were already defeated will have to be persuaded to abandon their fight.

"Interestingly, the same Boko Haram that Lai Mohammed said had been defeated reported attacked Kimba village in Gur ward of Biu Local Government Area of Borno State yesterday night. "Therefore, the Information Minister must show Nigerians how peaceful Borno and Yobe States have become after the defeat of Boko Haram by relocating to either Sambisa, Maiduguri or Yobe."

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-85563769618846992492015-12-26T08:04:00.001-08:002015-12-26T08:04:05.707-08:00Ghanaian Artiste Displays His m*****d Live On Stage (Photo)

Upcoming musician Wisa known for his controversial hit song 'Ekiki Me' which featured Luther, got audience confused as he bared his m*****d on stage at "Decemba 2 Rememba 2015" show yesterday at the Accra International Conference Center.

Wisa who apparently appeared on stage with his pants down showing off his grey boxer shorts seemed prepared to let 'everything hang loose' to probably thrill fans.

Unfortunately, Wisa failed to impress as the irate crowd booed him off stage with his 'generous exposure of his envy of all mankind' heighten by a serious grinding with his female dancer on stage.

Excited Wisa who had actually pounced on his dancer from behind and enjoying the groove had to be dragged off stage by DJ Armani.

The Mcee after the bizarre experience apologized to audience for the botch performance and on behalf of Citi FM.

Fuming audience later took to twitter to express their utter disappointment on social media.

Below are some reactions: "So Sarkodie billed this guy to perform at his rapperholic concert and did a remix of ekikimi? Is this guy normal?", a fan tweeted.

Jessica of Citi FM apologized with tweet, "Pls accept our sincere apology about the unfortunate incident with Wisa Greid. Citi FM does not condone indecent exposure D2R2015.

The Rap doctor Okyeame Kwame also posted "Wisa just started and ended his Career in one Night. Wisa Doesn't always mean Wise".

But hey, Stonebwoy returned sanity back to the show as he thrilled audience with his very best and hit songs.

Many industry pundits recounting the turn of events at the show have expressed worry over the fact that Wisa via his gross blunder may jeopardized the future of his own music career.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-8816825815282795882015-12-26T07:57:00.001-08:002015-12-26T07:57:37.848-08:00Knockout Banger Amputates 10 Year Old Boy At Enugu (Very Graphic Photo)

An unamed 10-year old boy's right arm is positioned for full amputation at the National Orthopedic Hospital in Enugu State as a result of Xmas firework also knows as knockouts which exploded and shattered his hand as he was handling it on Christmas day.

Warn your wards to desist from throwing knockouts!

SEE the Shocking photo HERE

Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5702067784843601512.post-34185651047871049522015-12-25T06:51:00.001-08:002015-12-25T06:51:20.634-08:00Pregnancy May Explain Ebola Return

Health officials suspect recently reported cases of the disease in Liberia might stem from a flare-up of the virus in a survivor who became pregnant.

FLICKR, NIAID

Ebola infections in Liberia, which had been declared free of the virus, could have stemmed from a woman whose pregnancy caused an earlier Ebola infection to resurge, Reuters reported last week (December 17).

"Ophelia [the pregnant patient] caught Ebola more than a year ago from her brother who died of a presumed Ebola infection in July 2014," according to Reuters. "It is not known exactly how she might have transmitted the virus, which is found in bodily fluids, to her family. Despite her experiences, Ophelia is still alive."

This theory being considered by US and Liberia researchers and the World Health Organization is not yet confirmed.

Liberia was last considered Ebola-free in September, after an epidemic struck the country and region throughout 2014 and 2015, killing 4,806 in Liberia and more than 11,000 wordlwide. Butreports of infections returned in November.

The Ebola virus is known to persist in so-called immune-privileged tissues and fluids, including the placenta and amniotic fluid. These sites have less immune activity, allowing the virus to linger.

The case of Ophelia highlights the need to continue monitoring Ebola survivors for months or years, Reuters noted. "The affected countries want to say they are Ebola-free but they need help with continuing surveillance and health care monitoring," Jonathan Heeney, a professor of Comparative Pathology at Cambridge, told Reuters.

"Over time, we do think that everyone who survives Ebola will be completely Ebola-free," Daniel Bausch, an emerging pathogens expert at Tulane University, told The Scientist in November.
Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05246392003693011010noreply@blogger.com0
